Filtering of Soft Drinks, Colas, Lemonades and Bottled Water
Under "soft-drinks", we understand carbonated (sparkling) or non-carbonated (still) drinks which may include a percentage of fruit juice or fruit juice concentrates. The products may be clear or cloudy but in this case we are referring to clear drinks only. This group of drinks includes colas, various flavoured cool-drinks and lemonades made with water or spring water, with added sugar or sweeteners and usually include additives such as flavouring, colouring, acids, thickeners, stabilisers and preservatives.
The filtering of the above drinks, in most cases, is an easy task. DE-filtration is rarely applied and in most cases only a sheet or module filtration is carried out, using clarifying sheets or so-called syrup filter sheets.
Bottled water ie. fountain, spring or mineral water, are all similar products. However such products do, in most cases, not include additives or preservatives.
Bottled water is usually filtered through a sterile cartridge prior to packaging.
FILTER-O-MAT® / SYNOX® / SECUJET® - DE-Filtration
For the filtration of soft drinks and bottled water, good results are obtained when using a horizontal pressure leaf filter (FILTER-O-MAT 110) or a candle filter (SYNOX) or (SECUJET) whichever filter system is preferred. The filters are available either as hand-operated plants or fitted with pneumatic control systems, associated software and safety features.
NOVOX® - Plate and Frame Filter
This filter system can be recommended for all pre-filtered products. The filter can be used down-stream to the DE-Filter, for medium or fine filtration purposes and/or for the filtration of final products prior to filling or packaging.
FIBRAFIX® - Depth Filter Sheets and Washable Sheets
A wide range of depth filter sheets with different pore sizes are available for the filtration of different products. The range covers coarse filtration, clarifying filtration to sterile filtration, whichever function is required. Filter sheets can be sterilized with hot water and thereafter be re-used for a period of days. Filtrox produces a "carbon impregnated filter sheet" designed for special products.
DISCSTAR® - Lenticular Filtration (Depth Filter Module Filtration)
This type of filtration system can be recommended for all products with a high degree of clarity, prior to filtration. The filter can very snugly be built into any pipe system and according to the pore size of the lenticular cartridges (modules), it can be used as a police filter, polishing filter or for sterile filtration. Lenticular cartridge filters can be drained with ease, can be sterilized with hot water or steam and re-used. Filtrox produces a "carbon impregnated module" specially designed for the filtration of special products, including bottled water.
